Hale Austin Bauernschmidt was born July 16, 1938 in Baltimore, MD to the late Frederick and Hale Bauernschmidt. She was the oldest of 2 children.Hale graduated from Calvin Coolidge H.S. in Washington D.C. Class of 1956. She married William Herold on June 15, 1957. They lived in many places; Hamilton, IN, Zanesville, OH, and Derry, NH before settling in Ridgecrest/China Lake in 1967.
